Preparing Artwork for a Custom Deskmat
Good custom deskmat artwork starts with a strong source file, generous edge spacing, and a composition that still holds up once a keyboard and everyday objects sit on top of it.
The cleanest custom deskmats usually start with restraint. Artwork that reads well from normal desk distance tends to feel more premium than artwork that depends on tiny text, thin lines, or small edge details that only work when viewed up close.
Begin with the highest-quality source file you have. Large original files give the final crop more flexibility and reduce the risk of soft edges or muddy detail once the composition is adapted to a deskmat format.
Keep important elements away from the perimeter. Final crop adjusts slightly to match the selected size, and stitched edges make the outer boundary the least forgiving place for type, logos, or delicate framing rules.
Contrast matters as much as resolution. Subtle mid-tones can look elegant on screen but flatten once the desk is in use and part of the image is covered by a keyboard, mouse, or notebook. Stronger value separation usually survives real-world use better.
If the goal is a calmer setup, edit before you upload. Reduce stray details, simplify the palette, and make sure the focal point still works when part of the artwork is hidden. If you are unsure whether a file is ready, it is better to ask questions before ordering at support@deskmat.studio.
